Sherry H. Thomas has a B.S. and M.ED in special education and has worked in the field for over 38 years. In a local NC district, she was a classroom special education teacher in both separate resource and inclusion settings, an educational diagnostician and a program specialist, and the autism coordinator and supervisor for related service providers and assistive technology.

Before retiring in April 2023, Sherry held positions at the state level, including Consultant for Learning Disabilities and ADHD, Section Chief for state-level disability-specific consultants and related service providers, Assistant State Director, and Senior State EC Director at the NC Department of Public Instruction. She has been recognized by the NC Council for Exceptional Children with the Felix S. Barker Award and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Cooper.  Sherry has also held several adjunct positions in the special education department at state and private universities.

Sherry is currently providing educational consulting to Foster Family Alliance-NC and is a TA provider with the IDEA Data Center (IDC).  A native of Lincoln County, NC, Sherry lives in Raleigh and enjoys time with her family, especially her grandchildren, reading, volunteering, and kayaking on the lake.
