We’re proud to unveil our new brand video — a fresh look at who we are and what we do.
MoreFreddy originally joined Voices Together in January 2014, where he worked as a music therapist until 2018. He now returns in 2026 to oversee clinical training and the music therapy internship program as well as lead the charge in planning and implementing clinical research across various population settings.
Freddy is a Durham native and has over 12 years of experience as a music therapist, having worked in community mental health, schools, long-term and acute behavioral health and substance abuse clinics, and private practice. Freddy also has 4 years of experience as a music therapy educator and clinical supervisor for both undergraduate and graduate music therapy students.
As a clinician and supervisor, Freddy’s theoretical orientation is integrative, encompassing psychodynamic, queer, relational, and narrative theories. He considers how systems of privilege and oppression, intersectionality, cultural values, and biases influence clients. Recognizing the multifaceted nature of cultural identities is fundamental to his clinical practice.
Freddy received his Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Appalachian State University, his Master of Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. He also holds a graduate certificate in trauma-informed care from Lock Haven University.
Freddy completed his training in analytical music therapy in 2025 through Molloy University, making him the first Black male analytical music therapist.
