We’re proud to unveil our new brand video — a fresh look at who we are and what we do.
MoreCarlin joined Voices Together in April 2026 as a Music Therapy Intern. In this role, she is learning how to use the VOICSS model to provide music therapy to the best of her abilities. Carlin is very passionate about working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those who have ASD, and is excited to learn more about how music can benefit this population during her internship. She is completing her work at Voices Together under the supervision of Michaela Minnear, MT-BC, CCLS, NICU-MT, VMT.
Carlin was born and raised in North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate degree at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she earned a B.A. in Music and a minor in psychology. Carlin is completing her internship at Voices Together as part of the graduate requirements at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She will finish her work for the Professional Studies Program for Music Therapy Certification Eligibility in December 2026. As part of her clinical training at Shenandoah, Carlin gained experience working in continuous care retirement communities with geriatric adults providing memory care/hospice care, as well as in group settings with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities providing a sense of connection and belonging through building social awareness and engagement.
Last summer, Carlin completed an internship at Optimal ACCESS/Integrative Music Therapy and Support Services in Newburgh, Indiana. Although she mostly worked on the administrative side, she also gained some experience working with nonspeaking Autistic individuals.
Carlin also worked for one semester at the Meredith Autism Program (MAP) while in college. It was while she was working at MAP that her wish to become a music therapist was solidified. Carlin has always wanted to do something meaningful with her musical talents to make a difference in the lives of others, and she believes that music therapy is the way for her to do that!
When Carlin isn’t working, you can find her crocheting, spending time with friends and family, or listening to a wide variety of music (rock and metal are her favorite musical genres!). Carlin also loves anything that reminds her of the beach, so she also enjoys spending time at the beach looking for seashells.
Carlin taught herself how to play banjo with Iron Maiden songs!
