Karen Armstrong currently serves on the board of advisors for the Duke Cancer Institute and the board of directors of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Excellence Foundation.

She previously served on a wide range of boards: North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (a Governor’s appointment as the public at-large member), UNC Greensboro School of Education, UNC Greensboro Board of Visitors, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro, Family Service of Greensboro Foundation and Alamance Presbyterian Child Development Center.

Armstrong also served on the steering committee for the Make-A-Wish Kentucky Derby Classic in Greensboro, N.C. and an elder at Alamance Presbyterian Church. She has volunteered for Woodberry Forest School, Greensboro Day School, Jesse Wharton Elementary School and Senior Resources of Guilford County.
