We’re proud to unveil our new brand video — a fresh look at who we are and what we do.
MoreKendra joined Voices Together in January 2026 as a Music Therapist in the Western region. Her approach to music therapy is based in creative art and empowerment modalities. Her goal in therapeutic work is that clients will leave sessions feeling seen, understood, and accepted. She draws from a plethora of psychological approaches to accomplish this goal including: Jungian Psychology, Internal Family Systems, Anti-Oppressive Practices, and Person-Centered Therapy.
Kendra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Voice from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Master of Music Therapy degree and wrote her thesis titled Clinical Applications of Feminist Theory in Music Therapy: A Phenomenological Study. She expanded this research in an article published in The Nordic Journal of Music Therapy with her colleague Dr. Melody Schwantes, MT-BC, titled Clinical Applications of Feminist Music Therapy: An Overview of the Literature.
Professionally, Kendra has worked in a variety of settings including schools, pediatric centers, community centers, and forensic psychiatric hospitals. She also has experience in case management services in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program working with unhoused veterans. She is looking forward to growing with Voices Together, expanding services in the NC Western Region, and continuing to serve North Carolina's diverse communities.
Outside of work, Kendra spends most of her time reading spooky stories, hiking near rivers, playing video games, or asking "did you just see that bird?!"
Kendra lived in South Korea for a year teaching English.
