Sandy is a nonprofit communication professional, with experience in writing and editing for both print and web; podcasting; social media; project management; crafting communication plans; and strategic planning. She views herself as a social justice warrior for the nonprofit sector, using her communication expertise to boldly share the stories, missions, and work of organizations across the globe in order for audiences to gain new understanding about the importance of this work and the sector as a whole. She joined as an affiliate contractor with moss+ross’ interim solutions in 2022.

Sandy Cyr is the former Editor-in-Chief for the Philanthropy Journal (PJ). She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management from North Carolina State University. Sandy firmly believes effective communication is at the heart of all successful ventures.

In addition to working with m+r, Sandy is living her lifelong dream of being a boutique farmer and an artist. Sandy also serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Raleigh Civic Symphony Association. In her personal life, she is deeply passionate about the nonprofit sector, normalizing mental health challenges, environmental issues, sustainable farming practices, and animal rights. She lives on a farm in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband, two young daughters, and a plethora of pets. Sandy and her family have been foster parents for the Wake County Animal Center since 2008.
