Voices Together

Tara joined the Voices Together team as a board-certified music therapist in April 2022. Tara uses the VOICSS® model to support and empower her clients in their ability to self-advocate and meet their goals both in and out of the classroom. She also enjoys supporting up-and-coming professionals, and has enjoyed having the opportunity to continue to support and grow the field of music therapy within her role as the Internship Program Supervisor at Voices Together.
Prior to joining the Voices Together team, Tara was the owner of Turtle Tunes Music Therapy, a music therapy private practice serving individuals in Eastern North Carolina. Tara has experience supporting a wide variety of populations in individual and small group sessions, including school-aged children with varying support needs and diagnoses, teens in mental health and substance misuse facilities, adult oncology, pediatrics, and geriatrics, providing long-term care/memory care/end-of-life care services in assisted living facilities. Tara is a proud East Carolina University alumnus. She received her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and a minor in psychology from ECU- Go Pirates!

Tara’s love for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities stems from her very close relationship with her brother Andrew, who has Down syndrome.
