MoreDr. Terri Shelton is Professor Emerita and Executive Director of Spartan Strategies, Inc., a support organization to advance innovation at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she previously served as the Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement and held the Carol Jenkins Mattocks Distinguished Professorship. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care, which advances the understanding and practice of patient- and family-centered care in partnership with patients, families, and health care professionals, integrating these concepts into all aspects of health care. Her research has focused on bridging research, policy, and evidence-based practice to create partnerships that build the capacity of communities, families and youth, service providers, researchers, and policymakers.
She has authored over 75 publications, including co-author of the books Assessing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Family-Centered Care for Children Needing Specialized Developmental Services. She was named one of 2017’s Outstanding Women in Business by the Triad Business Journal; was honored in 2018 by the State of North Carolina with a Family Driven-System of Care Lifetime Achievement Award; received the Hiram E. Fitzgerald Distinguished Engaged Scholar Award in 2022 from the national Engagement Scholarship Consortium; and the Athena International Leadership Award in 2023 from the Chamber of Commerce recognizing professional excellence in improving the quality of life for others in their communities.
