PROGRAMS START PROGRAMS START

“The Pre-ETS program serviced by Voices Together has had an extremely positive impact on my child. She had little to no interest in employment before beginning this program. Through working within the vocational curriculum that Voices Together provided she now is not only interested in a job but is currently successfully going to work at a coffee shop independently. This has been a huge step for her. Now, she has a much better understanding of what it means to have a job and what that means for her future.”

Laura, Pre-ETS Parent

Voices Together is a designated service provider in North Carolina for Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), a federally funded program administered by the N.C. Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD), part of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

Pre-ETS offers VOICSS® music therapy at no cost for eligible students to overcome challenges to employment.

Our VOICSS®-trained music therapists help students develop communication, social and job skills, enabling them to transition successfully from school to community.

Therapists engage and validate participants as they learn to communicate in a work environment, self-regulate their behavior and ask for help – key elements for success in the workplace.

Any student, verbal or non-verbal, can benefit from this program.

Year-Round Program

Voices Together music therapists work weekly with 8 to 12 students in 45-60-minute interactive group sessions.

The structured sessions begin with a written schedule of the program activities for that session. Students sit in a semi-circle around the therapist to engage in sessions that combine discussion, problem-solving, practice elements and, of course, song, to advance students’ communication and social skills.

Our proven, evidence-based program has yielded transformational outcomes and impact in public school exceptional children classrooms, communities and vocational settings since 2007.

In 2021, Voices Together entered into a contract agreement with the NC Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) to deliver Pre-ETS to students who are vision impaired. If you have a student or know of a student who would benefit from participation in this partnership, please reach out to Voices Together's Pre-ETS Team.

Cost

Pre-ETS is available at no cost for students who are:

  • Age 14-21
  • Eligible for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or considered to be an individual with a disability under Section 504
  • Enrolled in a traditional, alternative secondary or post-secondary program.

Students in other VR programs may enroll in Voices Together Pre-ETS.
